Our story

My love of candles started young, about age 10 in fact when my mum bought me my first candle making kit. I was obsessed, I don't remember ever lighting them I just loved creating. Now way back then it was nothing fancy just some white wax and a blue and red bag of coloured wax, this kit had a plastic ball in 2 halves and a rubber pillar mould. I would make them admire them proudly but never light them. My mum bought me a plaster of Paris kit, Peter rabbit infact, absolutely loved that but after I had used it all up I decided to use the mould to make a candle, more wax bought and poured perfectly into the mould and when it was set and unravelled it was the most perfect candle ever. I ended up buying things from the craft shop just to pour wax into, again nothing would ever be lit, just admired

I loved making anything when I was younger be it out of card, paper mache, fimo, drying flowers in my flower press, yes thats where the obsession comes from! Jewellery making, scrapbooking anything hands on was my passion and this started at a very young age.

At 26 we had our daughter Ellie, and I brought her up doing the same things I loved too, she was a natural and her first candle kit was also at the age of 10 but she was messy, oh gosh so messy. I was very OCD in my younger years, everything had to be clean and tidy and spotless but not her, wax was everywhere. I remember one day spending hours trying to scrape it off the hob! But she loved it and the mess cleaned away.

As she got older the love of scented candles took over, TK max and yankee were our favourite places to stand and sniff far too many candles! We always came home with a few but upon lighting them we would often be dissapointed that they didnt always smell as good as we hoped so we decided after years of buying candles we would make some, but proper ones this time!

Well thinking this would be an easy task was very very silly! the combinations of wicks, wax and % of oil used is mind boggling, candles are super tricky to get right and we are still learning every day but its an absoulte passion now, when you get a great candle its the best feeling ever but one can work perfectly then not! How annoying! So we test and test and test a bit more. Its a slow process but our collection will continue to grow... slowly!! Wax melts are much easier and super fun to do, especially the decoration each scent is paired to dried flowers that I feel match it perfectly. As a family we have a love for the outdoors and I feel our collections brings a bit of that straight to your home.

Anyway enough babbling...

Elesca was born from the passion for creating and the love of candles . Ellie and Jessica two names bleneded together to make our brand name, its cheesy but I love it!
